Georgica Road, East Hampton, NY
A new 2,800 sq.ft. home was designed to replace an existing structure for a family who relocated from the city to the Hamptons for the summer. The owner is a European art dealer with a deep passion for music and is an amateur musician. Nestled near Georgica Pond, the residence is surrounded by marshes, reed grass, and acres of pine forest.
Our clients sought a beautiful yet relaxed home that promotes indoor and outdoor living. They wanted to entertain comfortably and live with their collection of modern art, vintage furniture, and unique accessories.
On the first floor, we designed a double-sided stone fireplace that divides the living and dining areas, with a vintage Royère lamp mounted above the dining room side. Floor-to-ceiling windows and french doors open onto a covered porch featuring a second fireplace aligned with the one inside. The cerused oak kitchen also connects to the porch through French doors and overlooks the garden and pool.
Upstairs features a primary bedroom with en suite bathroom, along with a kid’s bedroom and bathroom and study room. The lower level includes a wine room and a dedicated music room and lounge decorated with vintage posters.
The house blends into its natural surroundings in a manner reminiscent of traditional shingle style, interpreted through a modern lens where multiple architectural elements coexist. Raw materials throughout create a layered contrast of scale, geometry, and texture.
