Charles Street, New York, NY

Located in New York City, this six-story townhouse was completely rebuilt from the ground up to create a warm, contemporary family home for a couple and their four children. Architecture by The Turrett Collaborative with interiors designed by D’Apostrophe, the 8,000 sq.ft. renovation features an open layout centered around an elegant sculptural staircase connecting all six levels.

A dramatic double-height kitchen and double height family room form the heart of the home. Outdoor spaces, including a rooftop terrace with an outdoor kitchen and a four-story vertical garden adjacent to the family room, fill the interiors with natural light and serve as serene backdrops for gatherings. Every single room within all of the living spaces were tailored to support the family’s daily routines and shared moments.

Materials such as solid white oak floors, dark American walnut paneling, and smooth plaster walls create a calm, cohesive environment throughout. The cabinetry’s refined detailing and the comfortable and sometimes whimsical furnishings establish a balance between restraint and playfulness, reinforcing the home’s layered architectural character.
