Gioia Ristorante, Chicago, IL

Opened in 2021, Gioia Ristorante + Pastificio marks the Italian owners first independent venture, located in Chicago’s vibrant West Loop. Meaning “joy” in Italian, Gioia reflects the chef’s devotion to regional Italian cuisine, rooted in purity of ingredients and time-honored tradition.

The restaurant occupies the ground floor space within an industrial setting reimagined by D’Apostrophe Design. The interiors balance the neighborhood’s urban character with the warmth of Italian hospitality. Layered lighting and a restrained material palette create a moody, intimate atmosphere, guiding guests through the dining, bar, and lounge areas. A sculptural spiral staircase descends to the restrooms and kitchen below, offering a dramatic moment within the space.
