25 Bond St, New York, NY
In 2012, D’Apostrophe designed the interiors and roof deck of an 8,000 sq. ft. triplex penthouse in NoHo, New York City, within a new building by BKSK Architects. Ten years later, with a growing family and expanded art collection, we returned to transform the interiors and create a new terrace.
The brief was to make the home more intimate, warm and textured. The main living room serves as both a gathering space and a backdrop for the clients’ art collection. Mustard yellow Pierre Paulin Elysée chairs, a Flexform sofa, and an original Pierre Paulin coffee table define the seating area. The living room is split and separated by a brass and walnut shelving unit that displays their curated glassware collection. Downstairs, a sophisticated clubhouse with soft, rounded forms include a bronze resin bar, serving as an adult entertaining area and a homework spot for the children.
Art shapes the home’s identity. Significant works by Keith Haring, Tom Sachs, George Condo, and Robert Longo punctuate key spaces. The dining room features a Francis D’Haene designed solid walnut table beneath a David Wiseman’s site-specific chandelier, Lantern Cloud Flower. Red velvet Moroso chairs add bold color between dark stained oak paneling. Wiseman’s Linden and Wisteria plaster installation climbs beside the Donald Judd-inspired cantilevered stainless steel staircase, ending with a ceramic owl gazing through the skylight.
The terrace, redesigned with Verdant NY as a garden oasis, weaves nature into daily life. Spanning the full width of the living, it connects the indoors and outdoors through floor-to-ceiling windows. Layered soil beds, custom planters, and carefully chosen plants support year-round growth and attract pollinators.
